Tragic fashion designer Alexander McQueen died after hanging himself in a wardrobe at his London home, an inquest has heard.

The star’s body was found on Thursday and a post-mortem examination has ruled he died as a result of asphyxiation and hanging.

During a five-minute hearing on Wednesday, officials at Westminster Coroner’s Court heard McQueen wrote a farewell note prior to his death and that there were “no suspicious circumstances”.

The inquest was adjourned until 28 April.

Speculation has been rife about McQueen’s death, with some reports claiming he was struggling to come to terms with the loss of his mum Joyce, who passed away earlier this month, while others cite a recent relationship breakdown as the reason behind his shock passing.
